Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a private and independent international medical aid organisation. Diversity, open mindedness and mutual respect are of particular importance in our organisation. Consult and support MSF Germany’s Management Team (MT) in its overall responsibility for organizational development processes aiming to strengthen our aspired organizational culture, and developing a dynamic organizational structure that can be adapted as needed over time, in line with our Strategic Plan 2021-2024. Coordinate the process of developing MSF Germany’s culture and structure in line with our strategic ambitions, and in a sustainable manner, in close consultation with the GD, the MT, and all staff, as well as further stakeholders. The position holds an appropriate budget, and the responsibility for ensuring participation and buy-in from everyone who is employed to contribute to the success of MSF’s work in Germany.

tasks

  • Together with the MT, co-lead the further development of the cultural framework, as well as the following adaptation of our organizational structure, in close consultation with our Learning and Development Advisor and the Senior HR Advisor
  • Organize the process, as well as joint reflection moments, and consult on next steps based on the needs of the organization
  • Coordinate the implementation of initiatives aiming to achieve the aspired culture & structure, including – importantly - initiatives that define and drive our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) ambitions
  • Identify gaps and develop initiatives supporting the changes needed for the aspired culture and structure, as well as the respective (self-)leadership framework in close collaboration with the Learning and Development Advisor
  • Support the move to new office with regards to cultural and collaborative aspects
  • Ensure close, timely and transparent communication on ongoing initiatives, challenges and drawbacks with the Board, the General Director (GD) and MT, as well as all staff, and the association (when needed)
  • Manage the respective Strategic Plan (SP) budget (approx. EUR 60,000/ year)
  • Coordination and line management of assistant positions and/or student assistants’ support, as well as independent selection and steering of external service providers and consultants

profile

  • Proven track record of successfully implemented organizational change processes (cultural and structural aspects alike) and experience in leading and implementing participatory change processes and projects
  • Studies and substantive theoretical knowledge in related fields such as: Social Studies, Industrial Relations, Organizational & Leadership Development, Psychology, Anthropology, etc.
  • Good understanding of organizational designs and leadership and management frameworks as basis for organizational development
  • Good understanding of the MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam’s (OCA’s) Leadership and Management Frameworks as a basis for organizational development a plus
  • Profound and current understanding of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion frameworks and initiatives
  • Experience as a trainer/ facilitator/ moderator very welcome
  • Knowledge of MSF Germany including internal communication, participation and ownership highly welcome
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills in both German and English
  • Key competencies needed: Cross-cultural Awareness, Analytical Thinking, Results and Quality Orientation, Initiative and Innovation, Capacity to Negotiate, Teamwork and Cooperation

  • Payment according to internal salary structure; in this position according to group 5 with full-time employment (40h/week) from 3,335 to a maximum of 4,219 Euro, depending on the relevant professional experience
