In this position within the Advocacy & Communications Department, you will ensure smooth, secure operation of our Website and our backend systems within a cross-functional and agile team consisting of a Product Owner, a Project Manager and three other internal and external Developers. You will develop our software and infrastructure with a great deal of creative freedom as a sabbatical leave replacement (15 months).

In your role you will

  • Design enhanced software architectures and develop new features with PHP, Symfony and MariaDB / MySQL
  • Strengthen the flexibility and robustness of our backend infrastructure, improve monitoring, automated testing and incident response
  • Support internal and external partners to connect our website with backend-systems (e.g. via MQTT)
  • Administrate & update our Linux-Servers with Ansible
  • Take pro-active responsibility on security improvements and data protection
  • Support internal partners in the provision of future-oriented technical sparring in the project initiation phase
  • Take responsibility for regular on-call duty with a very fair time compensation model

You Have

  • Strong motivation to support MSF with your tech skills, improve your software and test new ideas in an agile environment
  • Several years of proven experience in software development with PHP, including software frameworks (e.g. Symfony, Laravel or similar)
  • Several years of proven experience in the administration of Linux servers, with a focus on security (monitoring, firewalls), automation (e.g. Ansible) and CI/CD (e.g. GitLab)
  • Solid knowledge of data architecture, modelling and organisation, data flow, performance and security, with experience in MariaDB, SQLServer and MQTT
  • Good experience with setting up test automation (e.g. Behat, Selenium, BrowserStack, PHPUnit)
  • Astrong personal focus on service, quality and results
  • Willingness to travel to Berlin at least once a month
  • Very good English language skills (C1), basic German language skills (A2)

  • Payment according to a transparent internal salary structure; in this position according to group 4 with full-time employment (40h/week) from 3.933 Euro to a maximum of 4.975, depending on the relevant professional experience
